SUSE 9.1 Professional PDF Print E-mail

During the last week I had the opportunity to test the Proffesional new version of SUSE 9.1. As is usually the first impression is often cheap hosting FilesDownloads.net wedding photographer glasgow the most important, I was afraid to open the box. Collected a little courage I opened it. I could not go with admiration. SUSE AG postarala really to give SUSE. Yes it should appear each boxed version of GNU / Linux. In the middle of a consumer who bought the package is 2 books dealing with Linux: Administration Fertighäuser Holzhaus Guide "and" User Guide ", a package of CDs and the 2 disc DVD bilateral (DVD1 and DVD2 installation source), plus a package of regular CD needed for installation - total 7 discs. In addition, SUSE AG, the plate with a full version of the database SQL Anywhere ® Studio for Linux v9.0 and SUSE extra sticker with the logo - with the chameleon. That was a first impression.

install linux drivers Is it possible to install Linux onto an existing "raid 0" partition?
Hi all I'm new to Linux as well.... BACKGROUND INFO: I have a new laptop that runs 2 60gig 7200rpm hardrives in raid 0. (- I ordered it pre-configured this way because I wanted the performance boost for running apps on the pre-installed winXP OS that I needed installed for compatibility with work stuff and pcgames). (NOTE: the raid array built using the FastBuild utility in the following BIOS:   FastTrak 100 Lite (tm) BIOS Version 2.02.1.5 .    WinXP uses Promise 2_0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device Driver .) In any case, I'd like to install and run Linux in a dual-Boot configuration. In order to load Linux, however, the installer has to recognize the logical raid 0 partition. Thus far, I haven't been successful in determining how(or whether) this can be done. When I booted a Redhat90 installer and got to the portion of the install where I am to decide to partition automatically or manually , a warning was issued saying that the data on disk was *unreadable*. (Interestingly, this warning was issued twice [once for each physical drive], which made it appeared as though the installer could see the physical drives, but, *NOT* the logical raid 0 partition) . QUESTION: In any case, could anyone advise me as to whether it is at all feasible to install Linux (*any* distro) onto the freespace that exists on my (above described)  raid 0 partition? (

A possible reason you're getting the *unreadable* warning could be due to your drives being in the NTFS format.  Linux read-only driver for an NTFS formatted partition.  Most XP systems come preformatted with NTFS.  You could convert your drives to FAT32(not recommended) or create a new partition behind your XP partition using the disk management in the Administrator Tools .  This should allow you to install Linux. dEilte
