During the last week I had the opportunity to test the Proffesional new version of SUSE 9.1. As is usually the first impression is often grout color sealing www.performance-media.com.br eu domains free the most important, I was afraid to open the box. Collected a little courage I opened it. I could not go with admiration. SUSE AG postarala really to give SUSE. Yes it should appear each boxed version of GNU / Linux. In the middle of a consumer who bought the package is 2 books dealing with Linux: Administration Trust building activities coolcarfinance.co.uk dubbing Poland Guide "and" User Guide ", a package of CDs and the 2 disc DVD bilateral (DVD1 and DVD2 installation source), plus a package of regular CD needed for installation - total 7 discs. In addition, SUSE AG, the plate with a full version of the database SQL Anywhere ® Studio for Linux v9.0 and SUSE extra sticker with the logo - with the chameleon. That was a first impression. |

Hi, I have searched around the Internet for hours looking for good Samba help. The only place I have found anything is in this forum. I have printed a lot of the discussions in hope they will help me out. I am still having problems setting up my samba. Let me first introduce my computer. It is a 950 Duron with a Gigbyte Board supporting 200MHZ FSB, Dual _link_sys 10/100 Network Cards, 1 6GB 5400RPM Maxtor HD, 2 7200RPM Western Digital HD @ 40.0GB, 1024MB of PC133 SDRAM, 52x CDROM and just a plain ol' floppy. I have reinstalled RedHat 7.2 cleanly and enable Samba support on the setup. I have not touched anything now, it is clean and fresh. I am a newbie and want to get Linux to work for myself and my web dev business, cause I don't want to really install my copy of Windows 200 Advance Server. Microsoft is not on the top of my list for OS's. So now to the real stuff. Here is what I would like to get done, so if someone can please help me or give me directions on getting this done I would love it!!! 1. Setup Samba where my 2 Win98SE machines can access it on the network. Users being chris, cindy, sam, guest. Also, have it when they login to have it access or load their stuff in thier directory which is in the /home directory. Home is a HD by itself. 2. Setup Samba where I (chris) can access the root from my Win98SE machine. 3. Setup Samba where I can use Winamp to get play all my mp3s stored on the /media (another hardrive) over the network on my Win98Se machines. 4. Setup users so they have a specific directory in the /home directory so when they login to the Win98 machines it will default to thier directory with all thier stuff in there. Is there a way to see if my two 7200RPM drives are actually operating at ATA 100 in Linux? After I get Samba setup and working correctly I would like to setup Apache. I will try it myself before I consult here. P.S. please tell me if I need to setup WINS or SWAT or any of that, especially the secure password stuff. Please help me! I dont want to support MICROSOFT and want to give Linux a chance/try. Chris (
