Not so long time ago an American network of sales Wal-Mart has launched its bid to their secret computers (price 200USD) with an installed Linux. Probably because of the price of the first batch of computers spread in record pace two weeks. All but interesting screenshots of what has been installed on them. It was the GOS (GreenOS) - that is, formally speaking, Ubuntu 7.10, respectively, prepared with the Enlightenment desktop environment. The choice of the window manager was intentional - it is fast, as far as light, and at the same time visually attractive. As a result, relatively inexpensive toy from Wal-Mart can work with all due speed
Speaking honestly developed visual interface makes a positive impression - to maintain the green shades of the background is nicely composed with large icons. Icons intuitively move the lower panel to the left and right - the rest of the icons showing the boot.
Interestingly, in the GOS, we have integrated the key by default applications, and Google such as Gmail, Google Maps, Calendar, IM, YouTube, spreadsheet or text editor. Also in the upper right corner we find a reference to Google - wtopione in the desktop search engine. In this way, we can always find something interesting on the web, without running a web browser. All the rest of these applications are available from the Ubuntu repositories, so you can install what you need.
GreenOS can easily recommend to all those who like to have a nice desktop and aesthetic - in addition, based on one of the better prepared that is the Ubuntu distribution. Quite innovative is the default inclusion of Google applications and services, may be useful to many people who benefit every day from your Gmail, or other applications provided by Google. I think that on a scale of 1 to 10 for distribution to its aesthetics and innovation have received deserved 9 points. |
