During the last week I had the opportunity to test the Proffesional new version of SUSE 9.1. As is usually the first impression is often wedding photographer glasgow verizon wireless prepaid cheap web hosting the most important, I was afraid to open the box. Collected a little courage I opened it. I could not go with admiration. SUSE AG postarala really to give SUSE. Yes it should appear each boxed version of GNU / Linux. In the middle of a consumer who bought the package is 2 books dealing with Linux: Administration Pain medication 50mg online SEO calling phone cards Guide "and" User Guide ", a package of CDs and the 2 disc DVD bilateral (DVD1 and DVD2 installation source), plus a package of regular CD needed for installation - total 7 discs. In addition, SUSE AG, the plate with a full version of the database SQL Anywhere ® Studio for Linux v9.0 and SUSE extra sticker with the logo - with the chameleon. That was a first impression.

linux configure video linux - what a pain
Comparing Windows 98 SE to Linux is a bad joke, I agree. But if you pit Windows 2000 against Linux. *Overall* Windows 2000 is better. There are some areas where Linux is stronger, and even then, only marginally. Btw, there are many more applications for Windows than Linux... and don't get me started with MS-ICS. It is the worst POS ICS sharing that exists. But there are a lot of 3rd part alternatives for windows. And you may be right in saying that *everything* that can be done in Win can be done in Linux but u practically have to have Ph.D in CS to do it. You may not like MS, but they do put out out a better product (NT Kernel). In fact I'd bet the only reason Linux users bash it is because it's not open-source and it's not free. If the tables were turned and you had to pay for Linux and it was closed-source,then almost everybody would be bashing Linux. I don't hack that much and I don't pay for Windows, so I'm more inclined to use Windows more. But when I develop, I like to use Unix platform. There is much more freedom there.

But lets see how great Linux is. A few days ago, I did a new install of LM 6.1, X did some bizzarre things Sorry to hear about your problem.  I've not experienced anything remotely like it, except when attempting to install Mandrake on a 486 (It's Pentium optimized, so I use RedHat for cheap hardware).  The last time I've had to manually configure video was with RH4.2. Did I read this right?  You installed 6.1?  Not 7.1 or 7.2?

98SE being more stable than any *nix is utter BULLSHIT and you know it.  I could leave Debian (unstable) or FreeBSD up for over a year, without the slightest problem.  OE sucks cock, it can't even wrap lines properly.  Agent rocks for... jt

Dave Leigh < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message Third, I do not need to give it a try again.  I work with Windows every day.  I develop enterprise software under Windows.  Our shop uses a mix of AIX, OS/400, Linux, Netware, and Windows 95/98/NT/2K.  Most of our applications are distributed across two or more of these platforms.  It is my most considered opinion, after having worked in this particular environment for over three years, and having worked in similar environments for 15 years prior to that, that Windows (any flavor) is, for serious application development, the absolute worst of the lot.  However, if you want toy programs heavy on eye candy to hide missing capability, Windows may be right up your alley. And what missing capabilities are these you are talking about?  Are you comparing win9x or win NT or win2000.  As an 18 year veteran, I would hope you know they are all not the same and possess different capabilities for different uses. Using win9x as an enterprise server is not evewry bright, then again, handing your secretary a linux box without a gui is not very bright either. Each platform has it's best points and best uses. But lets see how great Linux is. A few days ago, I did a new install of LM 6.1, X did some bizzarre things to my screen.  contacting the legendary support cumminity of linux, i asked my question on how to fix this.  I recievec no replies.  Okay, no problem. using the windows mentality, if it doesn't work, reinstall.  i reinstalled and hey the x server worded now., okay so at least the test did.  Reboot, 10 minutes later, device hdc2 failed, okay I never told you to mount that partition.  Half a dozen services failed and I am still waiting for it to finally finish booting and give me a prompt  okay, how long do you look at a dead machine with a black screen before you hit the off button?  dont want to just turn off linux, no do do that, wait the screen just flashed, it isn't dead yet.  Well i will leave it and see if it finally boots up by tommorrow morning. After several dozen installs, I have yet to see an install  with X work properly and treat your hardware properly.  Well here it goes again, X doesn;t weant to use the SVGA server I told it to use, it want to use their mach 64 and crash. You know what, give me my pretty interface and gee gaw gadgets and a stable gui and I am happy. Well I got a solution for linux install problems. Format C: /s Insert Windows install disk, punch a few numbers, yes, yes, yes.  Get a cup of coffee, have operating sytem ready to go. And BTW, thanks to the Linux community for not helping. B.P. .........and don't let the door hit your ass on your way out.......
