How do I print an info document and get something that is usable ? How do I follow hyer_link_s on paper? Is it even worth the effort? I have yet to see a usable paper rendition of a hypertext document. The basic philosophies of the two are just too alien to each other. Hypertext is intended for computer use and is tailored to that; it does not translate well to paper. Yeah, I think you're basically right. The hyper in hypertext implies higher dimensions. In this case, printed text is 1-dimensional (in the sense that you can only read forward or backward), whereas hypertext can be as many dimensions as you want (and even curve back on itself). Maybe you could make a pop-up manual. Look Mom, a Gnu!

You can print info docs out. I'm not sure whether you can go from info format to texinfo , but from texinfo you can create dvi format (ala TeX) which can be converted to Post_script_. Also, I think there is a texinfo to html converter. If the documentation was designed nicely, it would consist of sections and subsections. In that case, I think the hypertext - text conversion would be fine, while still allowing hyper_link_s to the various sections (just like see also section 1.3 ).
