During the last week I had the opportunity to test the Proffesional new version of SUSE 9.1. As is usually the first impression is often Plock Buy Joomla Templates atorvastatin 10mg med the most important, I was afraid to open the box. Collected a little courage I opened it. I could not go with admiration. SUSE AG postarala really to give SUSE. Yes it should appear each boxed version of GNU / Linux. In the middle of a consumer who bought the package is 2 books dealing with Linux: Administration speed test SEO červené víno Guide "and" User Guide ", a package of CDs and the 2 disc DVD bilateral (DVD1 and DVD2 installation source), plus a package of regular CD needed for installation - total 7 discs. In addition, SUSE AG, the plate with a full version of the database SQL Anywhere Studio for Linux v9.0 and SUSE extra sticker with the logo - with the chameleon. That was a first impression.

MarkA < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message With regard to acceleration, I came across a tweak that uses a special /etc/hosts file: it re-assigns the common ad servers to the localhost, so you don't have to endure the latency for various banner ads to load. I don't remember where I found it, but if you search for it, it shouldn't be hard to find. Mark, The tweak you speak of... are you talking about adding to /etc/hosts entries like the following: ads.aol.com 127.0.0.1 This one I'm aware of but was wondering if you were onto something new... Thx!

I am going to put mandrake on my machine today, can someone help me with getting starband to run? I'm using the usb connection with ms me, have had the 360 hooked up for sometime and it runs fine. any help with the linux hookup will be appreciated Starband won't work on a linux box. No acceleration. You can use a linux box in a network through a Wintel gateway but not as the gateway. No native linux drivers, just like Macs.

Pastor Mac is full of s**t. Starband works fine on a linux box. It's true that you won't have acceleration, but for me it's a fair trade-off to get rid of Windows. To include, you probabely didn't realize that 'Pastor Mac' is one of the FIRST persons to ever post to the starband.general (and this newsgroup of alt.satellite.starband) about the incompatability issues with the 360 modem and linux. Your post raises many questions. If you could, please re-post to resolve. Also, i just did a search on starbands.net website and found: http://www.starband.net/support/SearchResults.asp?url=0010920011425.h... This brings up further questions as most linux users that do network their linux boxes to a windows computer to utilize starband may now be subjected to service restrictions! So if you run linux, you may have service problems! lol. Subject: Will StarBand work with Macintosh/Linux? Article Number 0010920011425 Date Modified 12/18/2001 09:58 The StarBand Model 360 satellite modem must be connected to a PC running Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, or Windows Me operating systems. Networking, to enable Macintosh or Linux machines to share the StarBand service, is done solely at the risk of the StarBand member. To help minimize the risks associated with networking multiple PCs for shared use of the StarBand service, members may want to explore use of a product by Ositis Software. Ositis Software has created a version of their home networking software specifically for use with the StarBand service, called WinProxy for StarBand. Please visit Ositis Software's web site for sales and service information on this home networking product. Help on use of WinProxy for StarBand can be found at: http://www.ositis.com/english/support/WinProxy3/sp_30_support_page_st... The StarBand service is for Internet connectivity and customer support of a single personal computer connected directly to the StarBand satellite modem. Additional computers, networked in such a way as to utilize the StarBand service and consume additional bandwidth, may result in service restrictions if the bandwidth usage exceeds permissible levels under the Acceptable Use Policy.

When I run Windows, I don't use the SB software. My computer only sees the NIC and doesn't know (or care) what is on the other side of it. And it works just FINE. Acceleration may be a bonus, but it is not essential. from my tests here, it was essential. other posters stated also that it was essential with the 360. mmmm...your the only one that i've heard of yet that has accecptable performance with teh 360 under linux. to me, it really doesn't make a diff. i've been off the starband network for sometime. don't plan on going back to this service either. although i've been treated alright, others apperantly haven't. I believe most that have starband & use linux, DO network their linux box thru a windows hub to attain accelation. i know one guy that does as such and is highly active within the Linux arena. i'd drop you _link_ to chat further but we already have seen severly of these 'ranting' posts. Notice, i cut-out most of your un-needed cussing as I believe we all understand english here. btw. one of you posts were from MarkA < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it isn't this the cable RoadRunner service? are you sure that you aren't running your linux boxes on cable rather then starband? I would pressume that this is your 'work' isp service. odd. anyway, i've also been on the @Home service and about 20-30 other diff isps...so go figure. I'm well aware of proxy's etc. i had no prob's running my linux box on the @home network without using their proxy. starband's 360 modem, however, is an entirely diff scenario.
