(*) There's something else wrong with the timings somewhere: as a check for memory contention, I use a program which contains a loop which should execute 143 times before an interrupt occurs. Without contention, it executes 144 times. On spectemu, it executes 145 times. From where would one find such a program? -Thomas

I keep receiving posts like this with quoted text but no additions. Is my newsserver crap, or are loads of people really clicking reply and then forgetting to type anything before clicking send ? On my newsreader (xskim 0.84) you can click reply ; it then generates quoted text with no additions, and brings up an editor. If you then quit the editor without saving, the file, it keeps an empty reply which you must then remember to delete; if you forget, the empty reply gets posted. Other newsreaders may work the same way.
